Bob Kevoian was a defining voice in American morning radio and helped turn the Indianapolis-based program into one of the country’s best-known syndicated radio shows. He co-hosted The Bob & Tom Show alongside Tom Griswold for more than three decades after the program first launched on WFBQ in March 1983. Over the years, the show expanded well beyond Indiana and built a national audience across the United States.
The veteran broadcaster retired from the show in 2015, the same year he was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame with Griswold. His retirement marked the end of an era for listeners who had followed the duo’s humor and on-air chemistry for decades.
In 2023, Bob Kevoian revealed that he had been diagnosed with gastric cancer. After sharing the diagnosis publicly, he launched The Bob and Cancer Show, a podcast where he spoke openly about his experience. The podcast also featured his wife, Becky, and his close friend Whit Grayson as co-hosts.
Even while discussing a serious health battle, Kevoian kept the humor that made him famous. Reflecting on his diagnosis, he said, “My biggest fear was losing the mustache because we are about to celebrate its 54th birthday on June 18. Good news: The mustache stayed put!”
Kevoian’s voice and comedic style helped shape the identity of The Bob & Tom Show, which became a major force in American radio and earned recognition from broadcasting organizations over the years. His legacy extends beyond Indianapolis, where the program began, to listeners across the country who made the show part of their daily routine.
Following the announcement of his death, The Bob & Tom Show said memorial service details will be shared at a later date.
